Tomorrow is surgery day, hopefully the damage is minimal and they can fix the damage to my right eye. Not gonna be on much this weekend because they said my vision may be super blurry for the next few days and to keep them rested. Such a bummer way to waste a perfectly good Friday the 13th.

As news of the Kindred Spirits spread through the media, NDN Country asked, “Are there any Choctaw or Native people involved?” Thankfully, and for once, the answer was, “YES!”

Intent does not negate impact. Be careful & mindful of the words and actions you choose, especially now when there are people experiencing unimaginable violence, loss and despair; when people are dying.

We should be trying to ease that suffering, not contributing to it.

The good human thing to do is make sure that we are not only examining our position and privilege in these power dynamics but adjusting our words and actions accordingly so that we do not contribute to their suffering or oppression through erasure or marginalization.

War is not an equalizer.

The dynamics of power & oppression that exist before war are not neutralized but exacerbated in times of war.

Oppressed communities are more oppressed, put in more dangerous & lethal situations than ever before.

The NYT found that doctors hired by Epstein, for himself, the girls & women he associated with, bent or broke ethical rules. Epstein rewarded some of these medical professionals with substantial fees, gifts, & donations.

So far the war on Iran has cost $9.4 billion.

That's $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

Thousands of lives lost.

People don't want this. They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

The Trump regime has abandoned the constitution:

- declared war without Congressional authorization

- ignoring multiple court orders

- impounding Congressional authorized funds

- ignoring the freedom of speech and assembly

It’s a lawless regime that has no legitimacy.

All it takes to debunk the theory that thousands of kids were pushed into gender-affirming surgeries is to talk to literally any trans person who has tried to get gender-affirming care of ANY kind. It's extremely difficult.

I read the interview yesterday; listened to the music all day. Could not “say something” in response until today. It is as if I was listening to stories in the music itself, not just “hearing” music. Miles Davis would have loved this. Maybe he’s listening to it somewhere, too.

I can't describe how much I was moved by this interview, then the music video & then the whole album. I have never heard jazz played like this before—it seemed as if it was composed & performed live “outside” in free spaces, not in studios/bldgs. Like trees, streams, winds playing/teaching jazz.
