I played Helldivers 2 for the first time in over a year yesterday, and I did it on Linux. I'm surprised and very happy with how "gee wiz, I can't tell I'm playing it on a different OS" the experience was. I was expecting the anti-cheat to be a dealbreaker but I guess they changed it?

Final Fantasy 1 is such a vibe. Even despite the jank, I love the original version on the NES. Its simplistic visuals and the 8-bit soundtrack are magical. I wanna play it again sometime...

About a year ago I decided to shave it off for good. Every time the stubble came back, it made me sick to look at it. I started doing laser hair removal on it a few months ago and have felt only good about that decision.

Not to brag but it really was a glorious beard. I don't miss it at all.

I appreciated the sentiment but I don't think they realized what exactly I was feeling with the beard. I didn't want to girl it up, I didn't know if I wanted it at all. But I'd never been complimented so much in my life and it felt good. Those positive feelings obfuscated things for me.

Also every time I shaved, people in my social circle would act like I made a mistake.

Some time later, I was talking with another group about wanting to look girly but struggling with feelings about my beard, and a well-intentioned person said I could do a glitter beard and make it girly.

One thing I struggled with pre-transition was letting go of my beard. I remember talking to my Twitch chat saying it felt like people started respecting me more after I grew it and one of my (former) friends said "I know I do!" and that kinda made the beard start to feel like a mask.

I'm enough of a regular at my local bakery now that they just make my coffee when they see me come in 💜
