I joined eight former CDC directors—spanning Republican and Democratic administrations—to share this warning: our nation’s health is at risk.
The very systems that protect us from disease, cancer, and future health threats are being dismantled.

My first reaction? No. I was angry. Heartbroken. Skeptical.

About two-thirds of CDC’s budget goes to state and local health departments. Cuts to this funding and expertise are cuts to communities—and they put Americans at risk.
These cuts are a recipe for more illness, higher healthcare costs, and less information for people to make decisions about their own health.
They're a recipe for disaster.

So proud of my friend who ran into Ted Cruz on her flight back and took the opportunity to confront him on the current block of comms from HHS agencies and canceling NIH study sections! Senator Cruz did speak to her and affirmed support to cancer research. She urged him to support ALL science.
