Book Group

The last Thursday of every month was Book Group,
when the books would gather together to discuss Brian.

β€œIt’s no fun here any more,” remarked Bleak House, glumly.β€¨β€œWhy doesn’t he read us?” whined the Grapes of Wrath. β€œIt makes me so angry!” β€¨β€œI’m sure he only bought me so he can show me off to his friends,”
complained Ulysses, in a stream of self-consciousness.

β€œI bet he can’t even remember my name, The Idiot,”
muttered a voice from the Russian literature section.β€¨β€œThat’s because he avoids you like The Plague,” said another.β€¨β€œC’est vrai!” came a cry. β€œIt is like I do not exist.”

β€œLet’s not give up on him yet.” It was Brave New World.
After some Persuasion, they agreed to give him one last chance.β€¨β€œBe quiet!” cried Waiting for Godot with Great Expectations.β€¨β€œHere he comes now!”

Brian entered the room, with his phone.
He sat down and watched some videos of baby pandas falling over.
After an hour or so, he started googling cats dressed as celebrities.

On the shelf, the books waited with uncracked spines,
their silence speaking volumes.

I really liked Wolf Hall so it was an extra treat to find the costumes on display when we visited Hever in September.

This was the first time I had seen people fishing there. The water birds were keeping away from this part of the water. There are normally coots, ducks, swans gulls and, in the reeds nearby, grebes. Although it had been a sunny day the sun was going down and the water must have been freezing cold.

Earlier this week I posted a photo through a bird hide where no birds were to be seen. I later walked a short distance round the pond and think I found the reason why.

I have to drive through Brook and to Hambledon a few times a week to take and collect our grandson from nursery. The area is a bit of a step back in time.
There used to be a good pub in Brook but unfortunately it shut recently!

I have never seen as many buds on it as this year. The flowers and shrubs have enjoyed all the rain. However our lawn is 90% moss!
Thanks Jason!

There is so much beauty in Winchester Cathedral.
It is still being monitored for movement by a beam of light after the foundations were shored up by a hero diver in early 20 century as it was in danger of collapse.
It makes a beeping noise which reminds me not to jump up and down in there!πŸ˜‰
