📌‼️‼️UPDATE 3: After initially restoring our website, Google has yet again removed pages. Since our website was built as a Google Site, we are looking into alternatives. We will likely need help in the process. Please join our mailing list for updates.‼️‼️
This International Women's Day, let's celebrate the many incredible women artists whose stories have too often been overlooked in art curriculums. In writing "Be a Creative Changemaker" I wanted to highlight a few of these groundbreaking creatives. Out of the 25 artists featured, 17 are women.
I used these hand-drawn picture frames for students to create portraits of one another as part of the Drawing Differences program. This program is designed to address the underrepresentation of diverse characters in children's drawings. Access it for FREE! www.embracerace.org/community/dr...
I hope they realize what a mistake they made creating such a portal. The hypocrisy when they are the ones leading the discrimination
UPDATE 2: Our presentation links to the URL for the Me And White Supremacy book, which appears to have been taken over by a phishing site. No information as to why our website pages were taken down; we will share more details once we receive it.
‼️UPDATE: Google has restored our website and files. More information coming soon. ‼️
Google has a provision that if anything stored in google drive goes against their standards, they can lock the file. Within their standards, there are things like "hate speech" etc., that they could manipulate to use for this purpose.
Based on similar reports from on our Instagram comments, this appears to be affecting others who have presentations on similar topics. Given recent executive orders and corporate actions to remove DEI content, it's possible that Google is using certain terms to flag content.
We have not received specific details about the violations beyond the broad terms listed, and it's clear that this is not the work of a single individual, as they wouldn't have access to our private Google Docs.
However, we received "violation" notices on our personal Google Slide presentations containing the term "antiracist." Other similar presentations did not have that terminology.
Our website has been experiencing issues since the election, with pages being labeled as being in "violation" and disabled. We initially assumed it was a targeted attack and implemented workarounds.
