I canvassed like crazy for one of the candidates because the polls said it was too close to call. I should have known better. The election was decided when the price of groceries went up and stayed up.
A little commented consequence of the recent election, I fear, is to greatly increase the probability that humanity will rely on geoengineering to cool the planet, with huge, unintended consequences. Sad.
We have now seen that lies, repeated over and over, can persuade people and even win elections. But lies can’t make the government run. That requires people with experience and expertise. The next four years should be pretty interesting.
