Dig a little deeper before hitching a ride on the tried-and-failed bandwagon of phonics direct instruction. Know the politics before embracing a method:

Is there any sense the ATA needed to adopt a different tactic when the government doubled down?

How is #AI going to change work? Most liberal analysis, including from labor reporters who should know better, ignores how AI already altered the data supply chain, which suggests how quickly alterations will come: pulitzercenter.org/resource/how...

From the replies it seems lots of folks want to focus on politics and not feelings. Curious they think ideas and votes count more than feeling when life demands an opposition party that opposes rather than surrendering.

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.

This Moment for Education Workers We face a stunningly comprehensive ideological, cultural, social, political, and economic offensive

Though we've lived through almost a year of Trump and my research showed vital changes in ed policy, much remains the same for education since June. This Future of Our Schools piece about the dangers is frighteningly relevant in this moment. ICYMI: futureschools.substack.com/p/this-momen...

If only we had Brazil's tradition of unions allied with social movements, unions that fought for workers' best interests, then maybe we'd have courts that defended democracy.

Telling SCOTUS will do this and pause destruction of the Voting Rights Act. Yes, their decisions have weakened democracy. At the same time this shows SCOTUS and the courts are not immune to political pressure. Demos and dissent influence how they "interpret" the law.

SCOTUS declined to hear the challenge meant to overturn Obergefell. Which means marriage equality stays. Heritage Foundation and other Christian nationalists were counting on this case to roll back rights. Welp…Not today!

Perhaps what the (sclerotic, undemocratic) unions think their states need. But what workers really need are unions that defend quality, affordable health care for all.

Noting Sanders is little better. On the Tim Dillon show he said having a secure borders is essential and not hard to do. Followed up saying blaming immigrants for problems with the economy isn't accurate, which was ignored by Dillon (and likely the audience.)

So vital to highlight! Thanks. @blackwomanteacher.bsky.social analyzes why education workers and climate activists are organizing against #AI in her next FOS article. We're looking to link up K-12 and #highered because our interests converge, as @erindyke.bsky.social explains in her post.

The only strategy they know is when the GOP rejects your compromise, you surrender. You can't get blood from a stone, and you can't get fight from politicians controlled by big money.

What's the evidence for these generalizations? Videos of people trying to protect immigrant neighbors from deportations often show "boomers." Same in demos to save public housing, "No Kings" protests.
