Second, before committee started
@andysmithmn.bsky.social walked over and individually greeted and shook hands with all of the members on the "other side of the aisle." Great way to start the year, Representative!
Two excellent things I just observed in #mnleg House Ag committee -- First, the hearing is being co-chaired by
@reprickhansen.bsky.social and Rep. Paul Anderson. (I'm watching online so I can't get a shot of them sitting side-by-side; the official video only points to one person at a time.)
Decisions are made by the people who show up. AND if you didn't go to a caucus last night, it's not too late to participate. I wrote this in May of 2024, and it's still true.

2026 is going to be a big year for Majority in the Middle, so I'm trying to get off to a good start. I have a goal of raising $5100 by my 51st birthday. Can you toss in a few dollars to help?

Happy New Year, early risers!
If there was a vaccine against extremism... would you invest?
As we close out the year, it’s impossible to ignore the symptoms all around us: rising polarization, shrinking trust, and a political culture that feels more reactive than resilient. But at Majority in the MORE: conta.cc/499Lxu1
(Yes it's basic and bare bones. And, this isn't a specific Majority in the Middle initiative. I'm just raising my hand to host the list.)
So I put together this jotform: form.jotform.com/Shannon_Wats...
If you want to be a part of the work moving forward -- put your name on this list so we have a way to distribute information and coordinate, as "next steps" become respectful and appropriate.
Friends, in the wake of this weekend's violence, there are a lot of people who want to put time and energy towards making things better. Some have ideas, some have resources, but what we didn't have (until now) is a central way to coordinate.
Please please please don't share stuff that isn't confirmed.
#mnleg Friends, while we don't have all of the details, rushing to judgement can drown out the truth and spread misinformation. Let's wait for confirmation and facts and let the professionals do their jobs.

Political violence is never ok.
Same. Following.
No context for this screenshot? That's not a bug, it's a feature of this post. ;) Stay tuned -- we'll release the Majority in the Middle 2025 State of Bipartisanship Report later this month!!!
Look at these percentages!!! Love the amount of bipartisanship that was happening at the #mnleg this year.
Take one step at a time and continue to extend patience to everybody around you. "Back to normal" is a process, not a flip of a switch. You'll get caught up mentally, physically, emotionally and relationshiply eventually I promise.
Where the fatigue catching up competes with all of the stuff you've neglected and when "what happened" and "what happens next" battle for space in your brain.
With special session adjourned, I'd like to officially welcome all legislators, staff, lobbyists, reporters and citizen #mnleg-addicts to PLSD (post-legislative session disorder) week!
Does anybody else find it funny that one of the instrumental #mnleg "committee is in recess" musics is Beauty and the Beast?
"Chair Davids, we've met." #mnleg #outofcontext
"I think it's probably pretty good for the cow, too." #mnleg #outofcontext
"I don't use Facebook." #mnleg #outofcontext
They can! There were a couple this year too.
Bipartisan press conferences are my favorite. #mnleg

Apologies to the original owner of this sticker, but I haven't been able to get this thought out of my head for DAYS, so I edited it.
