there are cases where it makes sense for an app to auto-import another collection, and there are cases where a user would want to auto-convert one collection to another to create duplicate records. i think the should be a DSL to easily do this, but i don't think either process should be automatic.

what i'm getting at is that which collection a record is posted to is also meaningful information, that is flattened if other apps auto-import anything that *could* be displayed in their app.
