I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

The more detainees, the more money they make. It stands to reason that these companies have no incentive to release people quickly. What I had experienced was finally starting to make sense. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

How do Republicans propose we help middle class families living paycheck to paycheck?

🏥 Slash health care
🍎 Threaten critical SNAP benefits
💰 Give tax breaks to billionaires

This new budget is an undeniable betrayal to families we should be fighting to support.

The scale and scope of Trump and Elon’s purge of federal workers will set our country back decades.

You can't just fire everyone, gut critical agencies, halt funding to organizations across the country and think there won’t be massive consequences.

fired employees can contact HR directly from their personal email/phone to get a copy of their eOPF. Email: hrm_contact_center@usda.gov. phone: 1-877-372-7248 (select option #2). Everyone that submitted FOIAs should receive a response informing them of that. This should be a better solution than the FOIA process. FOIA is slow and hopefully this is much faster.

You cannot fire so many people and shutter so many agencies and services and not expect things to start to go very bad very quickly.

Our job is to highlight not only the chaos and cruelty of the firings, but also the devastating consequences.

The public must turn on this madness and soon.

Same slide format of first slide with the text: 1. Check your eOPF. Make sure your OPF contains accurate documentation of your entire employment history, training, and education. Make sure your performance ratings are all included and accurate so you can receive the correct RIF service credit for performance. You may submit additional information for inclusion such as resume, biographical sketch, etc. These documents are critical because the agency will use them to match you with vacancies and determine other benefits you may be entitled to. Request changes or amendments if you find errors or missing documents. You may designate all areas for which you wish to be considered so long as you possess skills in those areas and these documents show those skills.

Same slide format. Different text: 2. Update your mailing address on record with your agency. Before a RIF- update your mailing address on record to one that you will be able to check regularly. This is especially important if the agency decides to mail you your RIF notice rather than give it to you in person. When notices are mailed, you are presumed to have received it. If you don’t check your mail and miss the letter, you may miss the deadline to accept an offer in the RIF notice, such as severance pay. Deadlines will not be extended if you do not check your mail.

Same format. Text reads:3. Prepare for no longer having access to government systems. Be sure to capture all the information that will be helpful or necessary to have for you personally following your government service. It is a good idea to forward government emails to a personal email address if you believe you may need them later. It is a good idea to keep downloads of your OPF and any other documents related to your performance, benefits, and employment where you can access them if you no longer are a federal employee. This advice is limited only to capturing information related to your employment. Do not take any information off government systems unless you are authorized to do so. Do not take any action that may subject you to discipline. You may not receive severance pay or may not be able to apply for unemployment benefits if you are disciplined before a RIF can take effect.

As Trump cuts federal jobs, even national parks are on the chopping block As the Trump administration rushes to eliminate federal jobs, even the national parks — among the country’s most beloved and least politicized institutions — are in the crosshairs.

"Last week, the seasonal workers who staff 433 national parks and historical sites, including Yosemite, Death Valley and Joshua Tree, began receiving emails saying their job offers for the 2025 season had been “rescinded,” with little further explanation".
