Richmond, Va. protest
HEY RVA! The Virginia Defenders are holding an EMERGENCY RALLY today at 3PM at the federal courthouse 701 E Broad St
Per an IG post: “We oppose the US attack on the sovereign state of Venezuela and abduction of its President, Maduro and his wife, all for the purpose of stealing oil and resources.”
In order to address Richmond's ongoing housing crisis, we're calling on the Avula administration and Richmond City Council to prioritize true affordability and not simply subsidize private developers to build housing for affluent residents.
Despite the construction of scores of privately owned "affordable housing" units across the city in recent years, many residents of those buildings and Richmond at large struggle to keep a roof over their heads.
Charlie is a really special candidate. He's a civl rights lawyer, a law librarian, and president of the Richmond Community Legal Fund. I took his urban politics class at VCU and it changed the way I thought about organizing around elections. If you're in the 77th please vote for him this Sunday.
Richmond for All is proud to endorse Charlie Schmidt for the House of Delegates representing Virginia's 77th district! Charlie is a lawyer, organizer, union member, and a founding member of Richmond for all.
The primary is THIS SUNDAY!
#rva since we're on the topic of publicly available info, there are two competing Richmond FIOA Library bills on the agenda for the 12/08/25 city council meeting. Def recommend showing up to give public comment in support of transparency @ city hall.
Apologies for the delay; here is this week’s calendar of events #RVA
Tonight the #rva school board dealt a serious blow to collective bargaining in Richmond Public Schools. Their public facing message outlined the need for mutual compromise but they made sure the unions knew that they weren't required to take any public feedback into consideration on this topic.
They will call this practicality or fiduciary responsibility. It is cowardice and we should call it that.
When chaos erupts at the national level, some local officials will fail to raise the alarm and fight for the people they serve. Instead, they will attempt to quietly scale back policies and programs that protect the working class.
As Richmond watches Republicans & Trump drastically weaken key social welfare programs like Obamacare, food stamps, and Medicare we urge you to channel some of the outrage you feel into pressure on local officials to take a bolder and braver approach in supporting working class residents.
Amazon may have made VA a datacenter hub and be pumping money into the state for now but VA politicians would do well to remember they're a fair weather friend. If you need evidence of this, just look how Seattle is doing after effectively selling their city to Amazon.
Data centers create few long-term jobs, cause skyrocketing energy bills, and have major environmental impact. Meanwhile, Amazon just laid off 30k employees and the AI industry is already signaling the need for a government bailout.
Silviano Mora Vera was detained by ICE while waiting with his son for the school bus. He is a legal, documented immigrant, and the family is working with an attorney to appeal his detention. Can you help?

Last year, an audit found that RPS facilities will need over $1.5 billion in repairs and upgrades by 2095. The immediate need for 2024 and 2025 was a collective $43,719,000.
“Passing transformational legislation hinges on the election of a determined, progressive Lt. Governor. Sen. Hashmi’s track record proves her dedication to public education & public programs that support all of us. We need Ghazala.”
Thank you @richmondforall.bsky.social for the endorsement!

"Students, in daring to protest U.S. complicity, risk punishment, arrest, or in the case of noncitizens, deportation. Far from being safe havens from authoritarianism, college campuses are functioning as training grounds for it."

Read our open letter from VCU faculty citing concern about the silencing of student voices and unlawful withholding of diplomas from student activists:

“If VCU thinks withholding my degree is going to silence me, that it’s going to prove a point, I think they’ve profoundly misunderstood who I am, profoundly misunderstood the movement.”
In April we raised nearly $2k to support two Southside Richmond families with fathers detained by ICE. Today we're make a new emergency fundraising ask to raise $1500 in bond for one of these dads. If you're able, you can support his release here:
