recently I've been working on implementing a custom deferred render pipeline, and figuring out environment art. both are still far from finished. #GameMaker
I use GameMaker. It isn't intended to be used for 3D, so it would be much easier to accomplish the same thing in a different engine.
I've been really wanting to spend more time on this project recently, but I've had so much work!!!!!!!!!!!!! once that's done, I think I'll be able to commit a lot of time to it :)

what the hell I haven't played super mario world in like 8 years and I just found out they added this dude called "Magnum Mole" #retro
I wanted Larry to feel distinct from his official modern incarnation, so I didn't reference any images except for his smb3 sprite.
the princess is a recolour of Peach but she's a separate character, "princess strawberry" or something, I haven't really decided yet.

I have used godot briefly, and I did consider using it for this project. I've been using gamemaker for a looooongg time, and imo programming is my strongest skill by far, so I'm mostly interested in doing whatever is going to push me to improve.
the game itself is in gamemaker, but gamemaker isn't really suited / intended for 3d, so it takes a lot of effort / code / math to get nice 3d stuff out of it
this was meant to be for a game jam so i've only got 2 more days to turn it into something playable -- oops ??? i'll try to make something small out of it.

the model is split up into 8 or so smaller meshes. all of the animation is done totally programmatically, just moving and rotating the parts around
