Again?

“Of course, goddess.”

A low rumble had begun in his chest as their lips made contact. He takes the plate and bottle, immediately taking a swig of water. He didn’t realize how hungry and thirsty he was.

“If that is what is necessary.”

He looks around to make certain there were no observers and pulls her into a kiss. A jig would be pushing it. He might rather starve.

It is not as long this time

His tail begins to wag at the scent of the food. His stomach growls. He hadn’t realized how hungry he really was.

“I do, yes. Thank you, Snail.”

I am indifferent.

Back on the road.

His ears perk up at the sound of her voice. He chuffs a greeting and turns to face her, not moving an inch from his assigned spot.

You do, yes.

“I see. That is unfortunate.”

His gaze returns to the window with another big thunder crash.

He returns to his post with a sigh. He would have much preferred to stay and watch the storm. It always made him feel stronger with his element.

Well… Perhaps.

I cannot see the resemblance

A soft purr rumbles in Astor’s chest for a fleeting moment as he kisses her back. He didn’t know how he had gotten to this point, but he was grateful.

“I love you too.”

What is your fascination with this creature?

“A surprise it is.”

He nods, only slightly concerned.

“Security for the papacy. What were you summoned for?”

“I am keeping track of how much time I have before I return to my shift.”

He was really wishing he could just stay and watch the storm all day.

“Whatever is easiest.”

Astor never really ate for flavors, it was more about sustenance and something easy to eat on the job.

Snail.

“Whatever you get for the kits. I am not picky.”

His eyes emitted a soft glow with the thunder. He always felt stronger with storms.

“You will find we are numerous here.”

He found himself somewhat impressed by the other keeping a straight face despite the shock.

“Yes. Tolerable. That is all.”

Another big thunder crash. His eyes glowed a bright amber.

“He can find that elsewhere.”

He huffs as a big crash of thunder booms through the hall.

“You do not have to, but it would be appreciated.”

He is not my son.

No.

“Annoyingly so.”

He grumbles and the lights flicker at the thought of the other ghoul.

Astor catches the growl and the lights flicker for a moment. He looks at Stern’s hand and shakes it reluctantly. Since this was someone new, physical contact may deliver a small shock.

“I find you tolerable.”

From Astor, that was actually quite the compliment.

“Correct.”

His eyes remain fixed on the other ghoul.
