Well, was planning on getting a good chunk of writing knocked out today, but three people called out at the store, so off I go to make extra money. Yaaaaaaay.....

From Chapter One. "Little" #WIPSnips

It was during one of these cold, snowy winters that an outsider rode into the village on a tired old mare, bearing a little bundle close to their chest. They wove through the little village like they had taken the path a dozen times before, their trail being quickly covered by the thickening snow. As they approached the large round hut in the center of the village that served as the main hall, the outsider dismounted the mare, giving her a fond pat and some oats from her satchel. When they had properly fastened her to the hitching post, they pulled the bundle closer before stepping inside. As the door closed behind them, the previously bustling hall went silent as all eyes turned to the newcomer, who paid them no mind as they approached the high table where what few village elders were left were sat. The hall was large in comparison to the small shacks surrounding it, and during the winters tended to be where the villagers spent most of their time. It was adorned with furs, and was brightly lit from the large sunken hearth in the center of the hall. The room was filled with the smell of smoked meats, roasted vegetables and spilled beer, with signs of a recent hunt still smoking over the hearth. But bowls and flagons were left forgotten, as all eyes watched this newcomer approach the table of the Elders like one of them. They placed their slender hand on the table before speaking in a soft, shaky feminine voice, “Elders of the Brook, I have ridden long and far seeking your wisdom and your aid, as those have before me.” As she spoke, the light glinted off the ring on her index finger. It bore a blood red ruby, crowned with flowers of diamond set in sterling silver. The oldest and wisest of the Elders placed his hand over hers, covering the ring from view.

It's one week into my #ReedsyNovelSprint attempt, and sitting at 11,677 words, an introduction, and two chapters! No lie, most I've written in 3 years combined. I'm so proud of myself and trying not to lose momentum.

Nearing 10k words on my first real manuscript, the most I've written for a single story in a looooong time. The story is really unfolding as a write, which has always been a struggle for me.
