Prioritizing understanding paid off way sooner than later.

I mean within months you can already see the impact.

Trying to go faster just makes everything slower. Which just makes more pressure to "go faster and invest less on understanding", becoming a death loop

In this case, I used the Cline Code extension with Sonnet 4.

The model usage was around $2.

And it only required me to change a couple of files for clarification of what I intended to do.

Yesterday, I had a quick call with a potential client for a real MVP.

I thought about giving a try to vive coding the main features for demonstration purposes.

To do so, I restricted the solution space to Laravel with Filament.

It worked quite well.

I can see a spike of productivity followed by a plateau on progression. Hard to have deeper conversations on topics beyond the surface.

The expectations increase as the time pass, making it harder to go back to "meets the expectations"

The job isn't about finishing tickets faster, it's about value

I don't expect juniors to go fast. I expect them to learn the foundations, to go faster in the future.

Learning the foundations means a lot of trial and error, reflection, and start understanding the decisions, why those and not others.

IMO, AI is slowing this process down

Continuous Deployment makes my life so easier.

No need to remember what can go wrong between deployments, plus remembering/debugging what did wrong during the deployment for all the introduced changes.

Each commit works or doesn't. Either the pipeline fails or the observability tells you.
