Very sad to have said goodbye to @craeioe.bsky.social where I've learnt so much but excited for new things @uclpsychiatry.bsky.social
We have another paper on autistic people without ID (Irvine et al. 2024). Different methods were needed & in general few qual studies communicate directly with ppl with ID which was super important to me to be doing. AKA it's across spectrum not related to intellectual ability.
Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for all your input! You are Queen proof reader and wrangler of references when Zotero fails!

@craeioe.bsky.social
soon for a summary of our findings about the perceptual experiences of both groups... I'm slightly too excited & so so thankful to everyone involved especially
@annaremington.bsky.social
and the consultants with lived experience π
Guided by autistic people with LD and ppl with WS we used a range of adaptations such as this research passport osf.io/wq43f/ ...but a lot of things were purely being flexible, they weren't complex or high cost.
This is my 1st first author paper & I'm so grateful to the SUPER team @craeioe.bsky.social
for allowing me to do this work & being 100% behind importance of adapting research methods to include #autistic people with LD & people with #WilliamsSyndrome.

Today in Hell Yes, Research! Despite decades of use on non-speaking autistics, research shows that ABA therapy has never been even SLIGHTLY useful to them.
A damning article by Gary Shkedy, Dalia Shkedy & Aileen H. Sandoval-Norton.

(Essentially they want me to evidence knowledge of current policy and research gaps then design a study for that question. But I'm stuck on the fact policy doesn't exist in a functioning MH system!!!)
Interview Qu: Propose a question that is important for further research to inform MH policy
I love an evidence base but I just am stuck on the fact that the care isn't getting delivered! Look at removal of CPA it hasn't 'levelled up care'. But I can't go into the interview and say that!
It is the last week of before the uni winter closure so I'm trying to write and reference...Zotero of course is crashing π€¦π»ββοΈ

#HiSciSky I'm researching neurodivergent perceptual capacity @ CRAE, UCL. I'm autistic & disabled and my main research interest is involving ppl in research about them (often called PPI) & adapting research methods to needs of community/ participants
