Had a busy day reviewing students’ qualitative research questions. It was amazing to see the lenses & interests they chose. But, as expected, some were a bit too broad or a bit too narrow, but together we reached that Goldilocks goal: a question that’s just right 🥰

If Covidence tracked hours screening articles the way fitness watches track steps, I suspect I’d have a very strong (and very high) streak going right now!
Well… the search for relevant articles continues… 🔎

This amazing scientific advance may one day lead to either more effective treatments or dare I say perhaps a cure.
This is why it is vitally important to fund basic scientific research.

Just walked by a colleague's classroom after my class finished and he was talking about Elvis, getting blank stares and so he had to ask "Does anyone know who Elvis Presley is?"
It's rough out here on these teaching streets.
I spent my Monday replying to student emails with my “teaching assistant hat” on. It still feels a little surreal that students now come to *me* with their questions and ideas 🤯🥹

Well WW3 did start in 2026 in Star Trek.
"The things that will DESTROY US are:
POLITICS WITHOUT PRINCIPLES;
PLEASURE WITHOUT CONSCIENCE;
WEALTH WITHOUT WORK;
knowledge without character;
BUSINESS WITHOUT MORALITY;
SCIENCE WITHOUT HUMANITY;
and worship without sacrifice."
~ Mahatma Gandhi
I don't want to be politically engaged. I want to read books and watch Star Trek. Unfortunately, the world.
Congress rejected massive cuts to US science budgets for 2026, but much of the money still isn’t flowing to researchers.
The culprit? The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is quietly slow-walking the release of funds. 🧵👇
Finished 2 mock physio school interviews with this year’s mentees. I'm reminded of how important mentorship is in getting more women into a historically male-dominated profession. I’m so proud of them for getting this far and have my fingers crossed for their acceptance 🤞🏼👩🏻🔬

Canada’s first Inuit-led university will be a game changer for the North.
Could not be more proud of you, Team Canada.
You’re coming home with 21 hard-fought Olympic medals. Though what Canadians will remember most is how you wore the Maple Leaf: with pride, with grit, and with determination.
🇨🇦Canada skip Brad Jacobs captured his second Olympic men's curling gold medal in 12 years on Saturday, defeating Bruce Mouat and 🇬🇧Great Britain 9-6 in a tightly contested game in Milan.

Bluesky is the new science Twitter, new study by @whysharksmatter.bsky.social and Julia Wester concludes!
"Results show that for every reported professional benefit that scientists once gained from Twitter, scientists can now gain that benefit more effectively on Bluesky than on Twitter."
CANADA 🇨🇦 🏒 FOR THE WIN
Another impressive victory for the Canadian men’s hockey team.
It’s a 5-1 victory over Switzerland. And that’s a 2-0 start to the Olympics.

Finished listening to the full-cast audio edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on Audible 🎧📚
My favourite book in the series, and this version didn’t disappoint my very high expectations! Iwan Rheon as Professor Lupin was such a highlight for me.

Today, February 11, is the #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience, a day to recognize the critical role that women and girls play in science and technology.
Below, we highlight stories from the past year that have featured some of the exceptional women scientists at Providence Research.
Premier David Eby speaks with media after 10 killed, including shooter, in Tumbler Ridge.
“I know that one of the things we do best is look after each other, and I’m asking British Columbia’s to look after the people of Tumbler Ridge tonight.”
