A grid of photos, primarily consisting of pictures taken of public transit buses from the outside at a stop, pictures of front of the bus taken from the inside, and of streets/bike infrastructure. A map of a bus system with routes taken outlined, with big text "95 Miles, 7:54:02, 14 Buses" on top, and "Goal: Cover every WeGo frequent service route (8 of them) by passing by every stop at least once to the end of the route" with "was fully documented on @theandreww.bsky.social" on the bottom. Off to the side is "Buses Taken:" with a list of buses and stop times/numbers as seen below:

3 inbound, 1907, 7:00 WB/Harding, 7:26 central
7 outbound, 1916, 7:30 Central 9, 8:01 Hillsboro TC
7 inbound 1916, 8:09 Hillsboro TC, 8:33 Central
52 outbound 2310, 8:45 Central 19, 9:10 Walmart
52 inbound 2309, 9:18 Walmart, 9:36 Lafayette
55 outbound 123, 9:37 Lafayette l, 10:12 hickory hollow
55 inbound 2202, 10:13 hickory hollow, 11:13 central
56 outbound 2209, 11:25 central 18, 12:20 Rivergate
56 inbound 2207, 12:20 Rivergate, 12:32 Madison
79 westbound 1824, 12:42 Madison, 12:54 Walmart
23 inbound 1820, 12:56 Walmart, 1:32 central
22 northbound 1804, 1:35 central 10, 1:55 past NNTC
22 southbound 1817, 1:58 NNTC 9, 2:13 central
50 outbound 2508, 2:15 central 1, 1:55 Walmart

Today I did a "transit speedrun" of the WeGo frequent service network! Why? Why not! I had to fully cover all 8 routes from start to end or vice versa, and make some tight connections! I documented everything here on Bluesky across all eight hours, but here's the condensed collage:

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Mario Cart tourney at my house tonight. I am so, so bad at this game. But I love the family time—and the mutual taunting.

permethrin fact sheet via: https://gillmass.org/files/Gill_BOH_2018_Permethrin_Fact_Sheet_TER.pdf

#PSA: Ticks are not insects, they're parasitic arachnids. Regular insect repellents don’t work on ticks, you have to use permethrin.

It’s a long story, but the short version is that my son’s robotics coach somehow wound up with 10 electric guitars, and now my son has one. I’m listening through his closed bedroom door to him experimenting with it.

I’m thinking that if pay good money to send your kid to private school, instead of opting for (a perfectly fine) public school, you should perhaps reconsider posting a GoFundMe to solicit donations for your kid to attend a $$$ summer program at a Big Name University.

The potential loss of the world’s greatest climate forecasting tool has ramifications for long-term safety and security.

NOAA’s climate modeling systems help the Defense Department not just operate but anticipate and prepare for emerging threats.

Original 1925 jacket cover of The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
Here is a novel, glamorous, ironical, compassionate a marvellous fusion into unity of the curious incongruities of the life of the period which reveals a hero like no other one who could live at no other time and in no other place. But he will live as a character, we surmise, as long as the memory of any reader lasts.
"There was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. ..
It was an
extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again?"
It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptuous er-tertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe.
It is a magical, living book, blended of irony, romance, and mysticism.
CHARLES SCRIBNER'S SONS
The
GREAT GATSBY
FITZGERALD

They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

-FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.
