I really like the way that The Electrum Archive does it with weapon speed checks.

Vaults of Vaarn 2E has an alternate method in the latest beta where you have to roll a d20 and get over your current encumberance, which I haven't tried out yet but sounds promising.

I've been running a Pirate Borg campaign for almost a year now, it's some of the best RPG I've ever played.

I've adopted the CY_Borg usage die for ammo to a bunch of other games if they don't have a satisfactory way to do it natively. It's very good. Simple and reasonably balanced. It make ammo something to think about, but not overly cumbersome.

Frontier Scum is also excellent.

That's wild. It's very successful at being evocative, because immediately upon seeing it I thought "Man, I want to crawl this dungeon so bad."

Hard agree. There's also been a big shift in play culture from the time that 5E was new and fresh, to where it's at now. Which probably also matches my trajectory from neo-trad to OSR.

C1 and the first half of C2 got me through a lot of tedious work days. During the pandemic things changed a lot.
