We are literally at a point where not submitting to these corporations gets you marked as suspicious. Caring about security, privacy, and actual ownership of one's devices gets you marked as untrustworthy. Because google and Microsoft have enough money to change what the definition of "trust" is.

Protect your device from being compromised by just compromising it yourself! It's not theft or hacking or an invasion of privacy when Google does it because Google is a large corporation, and legally large corporations have every right to steal every last bit of data they can mine from you.

These authenticator apps are demanding the privilege to scan your entire phone to determine if it meets arbitrary and unstated requirements, and can refuse to function if it feels like anything you've done makes your phone "unsafe."

It truly is vibe checking because you don't get informed why the app has decided not to function. Could be the age of your device, could be the source you installed the app from (which literally doesn't matter because apps are just web wrappers), or it could be OTHER APPS ON YOUR PHONE.

Authenticator apps shouldn't give a shit about "device integrity" in the first place. The integrity is that it is MY device, and that it is paired with a password. What the fuck are these apps smoking, thinking they can demand anything more than being installed? Vibe checking my phone, jesus fuck.

Like this phone saying that my privacy and security are at risk BECAUSE I WON'T SIGN IN TO GOOGLE should be something I can sue for ludicrous amounts of cash over.

Hopy fumcking ship you can't even sign in to JUST the google play store. That automatically hooks your entire goddamn phone to your google account. It is impossible to download apps from the play store otherwise.

And it's OTHER app stores that are "untrustworthy" and "potentially dangerous"!!!!!

But that phone must also align perfectly with mega-corp standards (how else will we know it's safe? who knows more about safety and security then mega-corps) and if it's out of date then you're not a good consumer are you? Looking a little bit untrustworthy there with your empty wallet, eh?

I hear this is an issue for many banking apps as well, and also something that affects people with older phones that no longer receive updates.

Society just straight up says "fuck you" in so many ways if you don't have a phone, especially if you don't have a smart phone.
