American bittern thinking it has everyone fooled. It almost fooled me for sure.

Very cute and very busy ruby-crowned kinglet foraging in the lichens and moss as the sun warmed them.

Brown Creeper also appreciating some sun, warmth, and insects.

American bitterns are a beautiful mix of buff, gray, brown, and white. Though, I don't imagine smaller creatures agree.

I think of Orange-crowned warblers as summer birds here in NW Oregon, but several were feeding on dried seeds at Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove, OR. January 19, 2025.
