Labour have come third in a seat we have represented for the best part of a hundred years. This is the clearest rejection of the leadership yet - and its rightward turn, smear campaigns, and spiteful blocking of Burnham.
Starmer must resign or be removed today, or else risk our permanent collapse.
Drug decriminalisation is backed by public health evidence and harm-reduction principles.
For a party of government to share something so deliberately inflammatory is not just irresponsible, but really dangerous.
Policy should be driven by evidence, not fear-mongering.
Our collapse in support is a direct consequence of Starmerism sidelining members, hollowing out our internal democracy, and creating a political culture predisposed to scandal.
We need a decisive break from Starmerism and Starmer to have any chance of salvaging the remainder of this Parliament.
Andrew Gwynne stood down following his suspension from the party after anti-Semitic, misogynistic, and racist comments he made in a chat named βTrigger Me Timbersβ.
This is a direct result of that toxic factionalism. The chat name itself makes light of the idea of member-led accountability.
But we should also remember why this by-election is even taking place.
For years we were told centrally-managed selections would deliver βhigh quality candidates". In reality, this was an excuse to entrench a toxic political culture fundamentally opposed to democratic accountability.
If Labour lose the Gorton and Denton by-election, Keir Starmer obviously must resign as Prime Minister.
This is a constituency that has consistently elected Labour MPs for decades. Responsibility for any loss will lie squarely at Starmerβs door.
Long overdue.
This is a step in the right direction, but the Labour government needs a complete reset.
Everyone implicated in the Mandelson scandal should stand down, from the top down.
There's so much wrong with this.
Morgan McSweeney, Josh Simons, and Labour Together continually bring the party into disrepute.
They all need to go.
We need a real Labour alternative. πΉ
It's vital we elect NEC reps who will stand up for Party democracy and socialist values.
Make sure to nominate the Grassroots 3 slate in your CLPs.

Peter Mandelson lobbied, on behalf of the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, to reduce taxes on bankers' bonuses and to pressure a sitting PM to resign.
We need a national inquiry into Epstein's influence and contacts.
This also lays bare the failure of lifelong Lords appointments. Scrap them.
Labour must reverse this decision if it is serious about putting country before party.
We urge the party to reconsider in the interests of taking on Reform and building the strongest possible team in Westminster.

The leadership faction have abandoned all pretense of ever caring about winning elections.
Blocking one of the few popular Labour politicians, gifting a seat to Reform, out of pure spite.
A disgusting decision that will only hasten Keir Starmer's freefall.
Really disappointing to see this news. Crookes' strength comes from its diversity, and we are clear that there is no place for homophobia in our city.

The US attack on Venezuela is despicable.
Our government must condemn this illegal attack on the Venezuelan people, enact sanctions against the US, and demand the immediate release of NicolΓ‘s Maduro.
Solidarity with the people of Venezuela.
Solidarity with the eight Palestine activists on hunger strikes.
These are prisoners of conscience, being held for opposing UK complicity in genocide.
If they die while David Lammy continues to refuse to meet them he will be directly responsible.
He must free them, and unban Palestine Action.
Sack Morgan McSweeney and nationalise the water industry and you can end all leaks for good.

Nobody wants to strike. But the mismanagement of both of Sheffield's universities has forced people's hands.
Both universities are forcing through job cuts while continuing with a failed management model that places buildings above people.
The strikes must win.

Yesterday we were told that any moves against Starmer would make the bond markets lose confidence in the government.
Today borrowing costs have risen because Rachel Reeves' tax u-turn has spooked the markets.
Make decisions based on principle, not in relation to fiscal boogeymen.

Because as important as it is for remembrance to be about honouring the memory of those we lost, it is also about action.
Remembrance is about building the world they fought and died for.
A world free from fascism and a world free from war.
Today of all days, all politicians must ask how they can build a safer and fairer world.
I hope they remember that those soldiers who came back from WWII, created our NHS, established human rights frameworks, and the United Nations Charter, to 'save succeeding generations from the scourge of war'
True remembrance lies in the actions we take to prevent all further wars.
With this global push towards rearmament, with relentless profits for arms companies, it's hard to feel any lessons have been learnt from those two awful wars.
It is only through peacemaking we can honour their sacrifice.
Many in S10 and across our city are without water due to a burst water main.
This - and our hosepipe ban - are because Yorkshire Water fail to maintain our infrastructure.
Last year they:
β Lost 95 billion litres to leaks
β Dumped sewage 68,000+ times

Labour's Deputy Leadership election isn't a battle for the party's soul - it's a battle for democracy, writes Ash Taylor and Minesh Parekh.

There wouldn't be repeated protests if the government would stop arming Israel, end diplomatic and trade links, and apply all possible pressure to make the genocide stop.

Really important interview with @mineshparekh.bsky.social by local democracy reporter Julia Armstrong in The Star.
The Facebook comments on @thestar.co.uk and Sheffield Online are an absolute cesspit of racism and hatred.
They either need to police them much better or else shut them down for good.
Over 30 emergency motions on Gaza have been tabled at Labour Party Conference #Lab25.
That is the highest number ever to be tabled in our party's history.
We must end arms sales and diplomatic links, and use every available lever to force the genocide to end.
When has immigration been ignored? It has been a constant over the last decade, from "Controls on Immigration" mugs to "island of strangers".
This isnβt βa choice between decency and divisionβ. This is playing into division.
The party of Keir Hardy and Clem Attlee deserves better.
