Very sad to hear of Carol’s death - as a Law PhD student, I was involved in the Connecting Research on Employment & Work group, which she chaired. She had a great commitment to bring people across disciplines to research into work and always encouraged the students in the group to get involved.

Today is the Observer’s 233rd birthday. And the first of 4 strike days. I grew up in South Wales in the shadow of the miners’ strike. Extraordinary to be joining a picket line outside what I believed was my liberal progressive news org all these years later.
