Look at those little creatures, hanging charms on their doorways and setting Xiao Lanterns adrift through the streets. They've turned Liyue Harbor into a gleaming treasure casket, radiant and alive.
Oh? You would have me offer a few auspicious words as…

Gears in my head start to turn while Rosa speaks, and my face darkens in realization at what she points out, for she's right.

I suppose we haven't no, .. you're right. We only have scattered notes and letters, but even those don't paint the full picture..

Miss Rosa, allow me some clarification, this Wilken..
He executed your death, and was killed by Sylvan? While, the one who ordered your death was the king?

Wilken.. stabbed his wife in the heart… There's a clear motive on the man’s part to act as he did.

Has the other knight acted of his own accord, or because a lord noble or the king himself ordered for it? or because he personally did not agree with lady Esther's methods and views? And, if the latter is the truth, how did Sylvan's wife refuse to have you burnt at the stake? What did she do to try to prevent it? These questions still weigh heavily on the matter.

Sylvan spent days in a cell, awaiting a fair trial.. scoffing, incredulous at some unknown irony.
But as I contemplate carefully what to say next, my eyebrows furrow.

I believe it was careless and cruel to let him rot in the cell with uncertainty looming over the man forever. The court with their dwadling and delay have dealt the greater injustice, much like you’ve said, miss Rosa. It seems to me from your account that this was.. and the fate of a knight inevitably includes taking lives, but taking the life of another knight who served the same king would be seen as… treason to the crown.
He never denied the act but didn't want to be punished for it? He refused to be punished for having murdered someone and for going against the oath of fealty of a knight to the man who rules over them. seems.. contradictory.
For, he allegedly decided to punish a man who killed another, by killing him. which would, in an eye for an eye vein, mean his own sentence would be equal to death, as well. However, time has passed since then. He isn't absolved of the act he committed nor is the other knight.

Things have been dragged for long enough, and Both knights have long since perished and punishment is impossible to give, so I understand only a final sentence would bring justice to their souls. I am meant to give out justice. Yet justice is relative, and in this case subjective for I know not the full picture: both the knights motives, their reasons to go to such lengths, even if trivial.
My judgement if some sort of punishment was to be given then, would be of a reformative approach, life in a cell yes, and release on good behavior or early release in the case he is found innocent upon further investigation and knowledge of that day arises that proves otherwise.

Okay, I have made up my mind,

Okay, I have made up my mind,
The punishment sought for both knights is for something irreversible, no wonder the court couldn't come to a final verdict... the court are dimwits though if you allow me the slip of tongue.
or they just couldn't have been bothered. talk about justice. I’m certain it was mostly for publicity and to keep faith in the crown longer, no peasant would want to become a knight after how fast one would be sentenced to death, there would be no faith in power nor loyalty and respect.

So, I say this.
Did the other knight deserve to die? No, but did he deserve to also face consequences? Yes, life imprisonment for him.
Did you, Miss Rosa and Lady Duval deserve to die? No, of course not. You have sufficiently proven your innocence.
What should Sylvan's punishment have been? Life imprisonment.
Should he, Sylvan, have walked free with no consequences? No, both knights committed grave violence, and violence while being part of their job quite literally on their job description, no matter how valiant or grand their reputation is, and how favored by the king they are, we mustn't forget it is violence still.

At last, upon deciding the court’s verdict, it should be taken into account that Sylvain has confessed in front of God and admitted to the court to have done the act, so for the transparency on his part, for it showed he valued and believed the higher ups would understand his acts. At least a decade in the dungeons will be his future written on history books, and, as the years pass, the court may discuss, in the case that more information gets unearthed, or good conduct, if he should be released to contribute positively to society and his community.
This is my final judgement.

I don't even want to invite my dad not because I don't want him to see me win but because it would cause.. they don't get along and so I'm never gonna hear the end of it and then I'm not gonna be serene and happy either, if he decides to bring someone else along. I can't trust them.

Lastly, the sentence given to Sylvan Duval was life imprisonment?
Were his family's treasures confiscated by the king?

You mentioned, his son had been only so young and a squire? what became of him, was he present at the trial and on the day of the murder that you know of?

And the reason for this knights hostility, if you've committed no crime and no witchcraft.

Please, there's no rush in answering all of them in one go, take our time miss Rosa and thank you.

Secondly, the individuals involved in this incident are, yourself miss rosa, Duval's wife, Sylvan Duval himself and an Unknown Knight who ordered for your burning at the stake, correct? Do you know their names?

Are there records of the incident in your possession or in this castle that we can consult? traces left of that day that you know of that would prove useful in understanding what transpired?

This is your valuable account of the story and getting enough insight on who all persons are and their circumstances and motives, will be greatly appreciated.

if I am to uphold justice in equal and impartial measure. i would like to understand better the happenings of that day, and form my own informed opinion on the matter.

That said, i would like to pose further questions, if that's alright with you.
