Today I had fun contributing in BSL as a panellist to the multilingual debate organised by the Dept of Languages & Intercultural Studies @heriotwattuni.bsky.social to debate the motion “the house believes that screens are detrimental to the development of young people’s cognitive abilities”
The research network project is funded by the Academy for Medical Sciences. After three days of discussions with deaf community members and stakeholder representatives I am feeling exhausted yet exhilarated!
Privileged to have been in Johannesburg this last week with members of the InforMHAA project team to work with a South African team to explore how to enhance sign language interpreting in health and social care contexts. Learned so much and met many inspiring people.
This project would not have been possible with our collaborators in the equality unit and domestic abuse coordination unit at Police Scotland and involvement of deaf survivors and practising interpreters, translators and independent domestic abuse advisors #makingadifference
