Well, the people have spoken. I asked contacts of mine across multiple platforms today which potential channel name they liked most. "Channel of the Apes" won unanimously. So, if I do it, so shall it be.

Here are the final banner and icon. Now, I start making a list of video topics to cover.

Made some banners for my hypothetical Planet Of The Apes fan channel. I'm torn between these two names, though. If I actually make up my mind which I like better, I might actually go through with this.

Which is better: Channel Of The Apes? Or Primate Directive?

A friend suggested “Channel Of The Apes” as a name for this hypothetical project. Liked it so much, I made logos for it, too. It’s now this, or “Primate Directive.”

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the 70s movies. The dream logic of the sequels is a WILD ride. Especially the 2nd movie with subterranean nuke-worshiping mutant psychics. Like, what? I'm confused what this has to do with talking monkeys, but OK, I'm here for it. Show me more.

The 70s movies are fun, a couple are genuinely great, but their main cultural value IMO was creating the template for the modern cross-platform franchise (in both good & bad ways). It was the first series to tie together movies, TV, toys, and comics into a shared world. Ain't no Star Wars w/o POTA!

The 2000 Wahlberg joint is interesting as a sort of transitional fossil in the evolution of POTA's ape portrayals. The prosthetics & make-up were the most ape-like they'd ever been, & most of the actors tried moving like apes, but they all still talked & sounded like people in prosthetics. Cont'd...

Like, the way the actors changed the register of their voices because ape mouths & vocal chords are built different, & how they all go through weeks of "ape school" to study & perform the way ape bodies move, is really fascinating on its own terms. Lends a lot of verisimilitude. Cont'd...

The current reboot movies are on another level IMO. Few franchises can get 4 movies deep & still churn out bangers loved by critics & audiences nearly equally. And the ape acting is phenomenal, leaning into the ape-ness in both physical & voice performances. Cont'd...

I do enjoy it! I binged every movie - classic & reboot - this week, and it's great! It has a lot to say, and with a few exceptions, its movies are all bangers. It's really helped me connect with my mom's memory, too.

And there's only 1 channel covering it. POTA deserves a YouTube a whole community

My late mom's favorite movie franchise was Planet Of The Apes. She loved them all, could talk lore and do fan theories with the best of them. I just learned there's only one dedicated POTA fan channel on YouTube. POTA & my mom deserve more. So I might start my own channel in their honor. Thoughts?

This is great prediction! I’ve always expected S3 to focus on the War of the Elves and Sauron, S4 the Fall of Numenor, and S5 will build up to the War of the Last Alliance. Tho if going strictly chiastic, the Wave might happen in early S4! (bcuz of reverse order beyond the hinge point)
