For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.
The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Wasow’s study supports the use of nonviolent direct action during the civil rights movement, a protest technique that King favored for both moral and STRATEGIC reasons.
Excerpt from a paper by me (currently under peer review):
nothing really to be said other than Target's leadership is a traitor to the state they're headquartered in. They should be treated as such.
New: meet ELITE, the Palantir app ICE is using to find neighborhoods to raid. Map interface; officers search for immigrants; click person to bring up individual dossier. This is clearest link between what Palantir is building and ICE's activities on the ground yet www.404media.co/elite-the-pa...
This morning at 7am I joined @nynurses.bsky.social on the picket line at Mt. Sinai, where nurses are on strike for a fair contract. These are the workers who keep our healthcare system running.
AIPAC spends hundreds of millions buying primaries across the country.
Now they’re trying to buy mine.
It would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face.
If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.
PLEASE READ THIS.
Silverio Villegas Gonzalez was shot & killed by ICE on Sept 12
ICE chased Jaime Alanis off the roof of a greenhouse; he broke his neck & died on July 12
ICE chased Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdez into traffic where he was hit & killed on Aug 14
Josué Castro Rivera was killed the same way on Oct 23
We’re out in Foley Square for an emergency rally in response to ICE’s murder of a queer Minnesota mother & community member. #AbolishICE
NOW: Crowd continues to grow in Minneapolis at a vigil where a federal agent shot and killed Renee Good this morning.
“SAY HER NAME!”
“RENEE GOOD!”
Local people protested, people raised money and showed up for court support. Local press covered what happened which is how folks on here came to know this happened. Local people didn't abandon her.
On only hours notice, hundreds of New Yorkers are gathering in Foley Square to protest the murder of Renee Nicole Good
New: I spoke with a Colombian asylum seeker who was the victim of a ‘Kavanaugh stop’ about what it was like to be racially profiled, abducted in front his family and held in ICE detention hours from home for more than a month—despite doing everything “the right way.”
This is Nick’s story.
masked, unidentified goons who assault and murder with impunity. a literal gestapo.
I'm sickened and heartbroken by ICE shooting an unarmed woman in the head in Minneapolis. We can never accept this violence as normal or accept anything short of justice for these victims. We will continue to show up — together — to protect each other.
Off to a good start
A great line in a great speech on a great day inaugurating a great NYC new year
I'm not NOT crying at Mandy Patinkin singing "Over the Rainbow" in the freezing cold with a chorus of Staten Island schoolkids.
This is not a hard message.
Localize it.
Embrace it.
Win.
This would be so popular at the national level if centrist Democrats let us use those words in that order
Among the sea of guests at Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration, @jfrejnyc.bsky.social Executive Director Audrey Sasson.
“If you look around, this is a whole community of NYC organizers and people who’ve been in this for a long time.”
Loving that @jfrejnyc.bsky.social button right on camera for the NYC inauguration livestream. 💖
I highly recommend watching this segment, not just because the CBS News execs and the White House didn’t want you to, but because these men were tortured and they deserved to have their voices heard.

A wintry-mix Sunday morning in Kimberly Plaza in the Bronx. We had warm & meaningful convos with hundreds of neighbors. Some are vulnerable & need immediate help. All are outraged this is happening in the greatest city in the world where we have become great BECAUSE of immigrants.
Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.
My heart is with my beautiful alma mater right now. We should treasure universities.

Just saw a Parkland survivor post about being on lock down at Brown University.
We've failed generations of kids with our gun fetish
