I am very new to gardening but I got very lucky this year and happened to plant some carrot seeds in the same container as a cowpea/bean plant and the carrots are so much happier than when I tried to grow them individually last year.
We've been putting out peanuts and almonds, and today the chestnut-backed chickadees brought their two kids by for the first time. And the Steller's jay with the broken beak brought all three of his kids and his mate. I swear he was saying "Look at my beautiful family! Thanks for all the takeout."

While I was walking Apocalypse Addie on a narrow windy road through the park on this cold rainy day, a guy drove by with his windows down blasting “Dreams” by Van Halen, and I was kind of annoyed because I think you’re only allowed to blast Van Halen windows-down when it’s “Panama.”
As is her right, as a cat! I guess when you’re that gorgeous you can get away with it

Had a misty, gloomy evening walk with Apocalypse Addie. Boris the cat stared down a bobcat this morning on our front porch, but is now purring in my lap. I know it’s not October anymore but it was a witchy day anyway

I know dogs have the reputation of loving humans unconditionally, but I feel like the dogs I’ve had start treating us like we might actually be gods after their first Thanksgiving with us. My cat, however, is always unimpressed.
