Oh, Raya is properly walking the Golden Glove race this year.

Probably Mavropanos’ best-ever performance for Arsenal

Everyone understandably taking about his age, but worth also mentioning Dowman’s injury.

Right as he’s breaking through, big setback, months on the sidelines. Tough to take mentally. But he stayed focused, got fit, and picked up where he left off. Delighted for him.

Gigantic swing in the fan mood in those final few minutes. From “here we go again” to a party in the stands and the belief that could be a turning point. Huge three points.

We’ve played pretty well, we’ve made chances, we definitely should have had a penalty. We’ve had worse first halves lately. But nothing to show for it, which keeps things very tense.

Very interesting lineup. Glad to see Havertz and Calafiori starting, I think we always look better offensively when they’re in the team.

Are we thinking Saka on the left or Madueke? Or Eze even?

The penalty yesterday was given at 85:34. Havertz took the kick at 88:33, so effectively a full three minutes later.

Yet only three minutes was added on at the end of the match, so the ref was saying that was the only stoppage of the half? Added time remains a joke.

Upsides of that City result: Morale damaged, but also not unrealistic they could make a comeback. They should take the 2nd leg seriously and hopefully put everything into it.

Downsides: They’re either going out (easier schedule) or getting a morale-boosting comeback pre-final.

That makes Newcastle’s result worse, not better. They played well and got the same result as us in what should be the easier of their two legs (vs the harder of ours).

Crazy that our result is probably the best one any of the English teams managed this week. I know Newcastle also drew 1-1, but that was at home, and they now have to go to Camp Nou.

Real Madrid haven’t been 3-0 good, but wow, Valverde has been!

Bad game, passable result. Need to be better next week but big goal at the end so they won’t have a lead to defend.

A lead we gifted them with a lazy start to the second half, by the way. But whatever, thank you Noni and Kai.

Certainly not a good half, but Leverkusen are playing like *we* need to win this leg. Obviously we need to score to avoid them nicking a goal, but if we draw that’s surely a better result for us than them.

But as I said, still not good. Individual quality lacking from us.

Saliba back 😍 big night for Ranson, to be named in the matchday squad. Obviously he’s the third-choice GK so incredibly unlikely to feature, but still.

All the English clubs having their hearts broken today. Hopefully that trend doesn’t continue tomorrow.

Doesn’t seem like we were particularly lucky to avoid Atalanta.

That might be one of the all-time most embarrassing starts to a Champions League tie. Like ever.

I will admit that in this case he got the run up about as wrong as you could possibly get it, given his stutter surely made the GK more likely to stay still than dive.

But even then, just hit it hard. Maximise the chance it isn’t saved.

It is harder to save a smashed penalty than a chip, so it makes perfect sense. I don’t want my players to deliberately give the GK a better chance at saving the penalty.

Yeah and one of the other Brentford players did it excellently later in the shootout. Didn’t stutter, hit it hard and high, a serious penalty like the others.

Not some nonsense slow chip the goalkeeper couldn’t possibly drop.

Panenkas in shootouts 🚮 Putting your ego ahead of the team when every kick matters is so lame.

Southampton win, Port Vale ahead, great news for the people apparently fixing Arsenal with lower-league draws every round.

Obviously I don’t like Chelsea but Alan Shearer is talking nonsense. It’s offside, it may not feel good because you want Wrexham to win but it’s just offside.

Neto has really good acceleration, which makes him aesthetically pleasing to watch for the first few strides. Everything else about his game seems really inconsistent.

Job done, quarter-finals up next. Passed up far too many chances to settle it, but ultimately we’re through and I won’t complain.
