You’ll talk about it in euphemisms? Maybe call it the “crown video” and ignore the shitting part? Because that’s appropriate?
Tell me, was it appropriate for the president to do it?
This is an (admittedly belated) appreciation post for @doctorwaffle.substack.com & @devo3000.bsky.social & all the amazing essays they put together for their incredible volume AFTER DARWIN. What thoughtful and thought-provoking work. THANK YOU!

I talked about rising electricity bills & the need for clean electrification on #WITHpod with @chrislhayes.bsky.social. AI & data centers are spiking electricity demand, & the Administration is restricting the building of renewable energy. Prices are going up. Watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f653...

Remind your neighbors that WE ARE THE MAJORITY AND WE’RE NOT GIVING UP!!
I cannot emphasize this enough:
The regime has overextended itself. It is vulnerable to protest and dissent.
They have not consolidated power and we are entirely capable of keeping them from doing so.

I’m kind of starting to think that any democratic uprising by the people is going to include a full-on rejection of tech and its makers. Just throwing these machines into a river and holding the designers responsible.

Many Americans think climate change will devastate future generations, the world’s poor, and nature — but far fewer believe it will harm them personally. This “it won’t happen to me” bias delays action, even as climate chaos grows in that country.

They are not aware of the energy and water use implications. I’m not always sure they know about the hallucinations or untrustworthiness.
The swift rollout and ubiquity is exactly to make it impossible to root out and normalize as quickly as possible. Same with Waymo, same with e-scooters, etc.
I’m hearing from surprising friends that they are using AI. I am floored. I don’t know how they trust it.
But it is also clear that 1) it is helping them navigate systems that are otherwise too complicated (legal compliance, medical care) and 2) they just think of it as yet another tech tool
