obviously its still a whole art project and product that still needs to be criticized and no matter how large an operation it is it still deserves shit whenever it does something bad, but its harder than usual to let my gripes immediately take away what i enjoy about it

like ever since they mentioned in interviews characters have "parents" who are basically responsible for that characters whole design and writing i find it difficult to complain much about things about it i think suck when it likely didnt involve the people who made the things i appreciate in it

basically i think gbf is such a weird beast of its own kind, and one thats grown so large its difficult for me to pin certain criticisms i have of it to the whole team behind the project when its clearly put together by so many people with different views and goals of their own

i add this because there have been gachas that tried to have a similar appeal at least character wise, some of cyge themselves, but ended service because it failed to gain momentum... like yeah if gbf started more recently there's a good chance it would've ended services the same way too

gbf is really interesting as a gacha given how different it feels from every other popular one, like obviously it still got the usual tactics most of these employ but it's got such a different identity from other ones, without mentioning it's 12 years old now

this almost sounds pessimistic but on the flipside i think its quite a good way to prove representation can be successful whilst being well done, and the creatives of cyge are doing much better than other people in the industry for knowing that and have a decently diverse cast

tbh i think in part it comes from the fact its a project with an ever expanding cast of characters meaning you can try a lot with existing ones or create new ones with that kind of intent, and if it doesnt "catch on" they can just not invest into that idea or character anymore so, theres little risk

i dont agree with people who say gbf is like SUPER PROGRESSIVE when they mostly mean they sexualize the men a lot, even though the women are far far more so (which includes... some of the young girls even..🤢)
but im appreciative of the fact that i guess yea for a jpn game its quite progressive

i know she Is actually that old but i hope octavia has "oh god my back hurts" old people typa dialogue because itd be funny as fuck

this was obvious since those are prosthetics but i like that they include her arms and ear with their actual detail despite her wearing a basic tshirt like everyone does in those gbtv illustrations
