01.11.2025 10:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The amazing @rebeccajquah.bsky.social who I have the privilege of supervising, just got her first PhD paper published. She used eDNA to examine the diet of the worldโs rarest marsupial and explores how this approach can help find new suitable habitat. link.springer.com/article/10.1...

A whirlwind week! On Wed, I had the privilege of presenting 2 PhD chapters at WAโs Biodiversity Conference!
These looked at the fungal diets of boodies and woylies across a landscape gradient, and an eDNA survey of fungi on Dirk Hartog Island, a recent/future translocation site for these bettongs.
This wee rascal has gone untrappable for 2 years!! Well done to @rebeccajquah.bsky.social and Holly (MSc student) who caught her this morning. Aptly named Mojo Jojo, she is a very special mouse. MJ is allowing us to monitor the build a new mound-burrow system - literally from the ground up!

Lucky enough to have @rebeccajquah.bsky.social working on the pebble mouse project this year! Nice first morning with a beautiful newly caught female.

This is Buzz and Woody! Theyโre southern banded knob tail geckos (Nephurus wheeleri) and Iโll be basing my whole personality around them from now on๐

Prior to #ESAus2024, I had a go at making polymer clay earrings for the first time. Theyโre potoroos in case you canโt tell๐ซฃ But theyโve got nothing on some of the home made/sewn outfits others were rocking!
Petition to have a workshop on DIY #ecologicalfashion at future ecological conferences!
Thatโs a wrap on my first ESA! Highlights were presenting the first set of results from my PhD, getting to catch up with Mammal Society friends, getting to hear about other mycophagy projects and finishing the week with a species distribution modelling workshop! #ESAus2024
