I was dating a boy that went to DC for a Senate leadership program. He called me from a pay phone in the Watergate lobby just to give me, (and my mother) a thrill. It is one of the best, most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received. 😄

Me neither. We remember how it used to be, differences in policy, but collective support for the Constitution and the rule of law.

I was 17 during Watergate. I think it led me down the path of cynicism. Before then I believed the Government was made of those whose mission it was to serve the people. I was grateful that the guardrails worked, and thought it couldn’t happen again. Naïve, I know.
