I just finished cataloguing the trans+ books I own across all formats to figure out my TBR for the trans rights readathon and my list has reached 45 books, which is WAY too many for me to actually read over the course of two weeks... Maybe I should let my friends vote on which ones I read?

yeah like... it was horrifying, and also like... a thing I did not fully metabolize until YEARS later. I was just on the periphery of it all and remember being like "yeah that thing she said was kind of insulting" but man the pile on was outsized compared to the original comment

I will never forget someone @ ing me on twitter demanding I make a statement about a news story I had no connection to and had not heard about on a day when I was dealing with a real life personal crisis. Like I am not a journalist? I am not a public figure? I'm just a little guy making up stories

Between twitter collapsing, and choosing to leave tiktok and and threads, I am so at peace tbh. Like... I do miss a sort of centralized hub where all publishing people hung out, and I do kind of mourn the loss of my big following on twitter, but man am I glad not to have to have opinions every day

Even just a few years ago I would have spent all day trying to find out what the source of the discourse was and learning about all the different arguments and shit and it would have been an absolute waste of time and I would've felt so anxious about it all the time. Is this growth?
There truly is no better feeling than seeing a bit of stray publishing discourse and knowing I totally missed the original drama completely. I love not knowing stuff. Never tell me anything ever again. I am experiencing the best years of my life right now being in the dark about this shit
