It is definitively the case that Blue Sky is completely uninteresting to me compared to the fediverse.

This is the third time in the last three occasions to reply on Blue Sky that I have run into the arbitrary 300 character limit.
It's intensely aggravating and utterly without technical merit.

Market Basket Waltham is different, for me. In my experience -- height? weirdness magnet? -- there's a non-bagging, non-checkout, non-behind-a-counter employee approximately every three aisles, usually stocking things or moving things about. That's my impression. I will do a count next time I'm in.

Starter Villain is much more typical of his plotting; Moon is an outlier. (The other big outlier is Redshirts.)
A typical Scalzi novel is a straight-forward SF tale with one or two viewpoint characters and a classic resolution after two to three twists.

Explanations I have come up with:
* insurance says that the cost of accidents is too high
* the store will "happily" provide employee assistance, it's just that any supermarket other than Market Basket or Wegman's doesn't have enough employees to make the wait time reasonable. (I may be biased.)

Modern security threats can really take a toll on IT security practitioners, but there is an evolutionarily proven answer. Consumption. Find the offenders and eat them. Several strategies are appropriate -- cursorial hunting, ambush, trapping, and stabbing them with your steely knives all work.

tilde.zone
mastodon instance of the tildeverse, a collection of small public access *nix systems for collaboration, creativity, and socializing. a proud part of the small internet.
My home account in the fediverse over on tilde.zone allows 5000 character posts. This is not unusual in the fedi.
5000 is still an arbitrary restriction. And it's bullshit, because images tend to start around 100,000 characters worth of data and go up and up and up...

Not a paid advertisement, but a recommendation for a free tool that connects people -- well, not people, accounts. Across networks.
(Does bsky really only allow you 300 characters? That's ridiculous. How do they expect people to make reasonable arguments or impassioned discourse? 5000
