We're super far uphill in this part of Tokyo (so it's business as usual), but apparently coastal and port sirens are going off.

Once again, our "entitlement" is us not wanting to die. How dare we, right?

I'm a broken record preaching to the choir, but I do think it's worth emphasizing that cyclists (and pedestrians) are afraid drivers will kill them. Drivers are annoyed that bicyclists will slow them down or be rude to them.

I live next to a couple who own three cars between the two of them. It fills me with nothing but ire.

Secondly, people living in the 23-ku simply shouldn't be allowed to own private vehicles without an extremely good reason.

Tokyo has way too many people living in it for so many people to lack basic situational awareness. It's untenable.

Honestly, I'm still confused.

This is obviously awful, but that aside, I am literally never going to run out of research material.

It also felt like they were literally everywhere, all the time. At a given intersection, they would cover every single corner. I'm not surprised their support surged, if people just wanted "something else" to vote for and didn't pay a lot of attention to their actual platform.

I suspect that what that comment is referring to is when the -e is part of the 送りがな (食べる, 見える, 変える, 生える), in which case those are almost always "-ru" verbs because of classical grammar reasons. But that's probably not the hair the average reddit user is splitting.
