TIL there is no longer a bus between Annapolis/Severna Park and New Carrollton?? Also baffled by the lack of transit to UMD/College Park. Transit mappers say to go through downtown Baltimore or downtown DC (a 3+ hour trip for a 45 minute drive)

There's nothing like trying to plan a trip in the DMV to be reminded how functionally useless American transit is for inter-city or suburban travel, even within a 50-mile radius

A hand holding open a book to a two-page spread. The left side is black with a white headline β€œPLAYING WITH MATCHES” and subhed β€œHow we break the stable marriage algorithm.” The right page is a greyscale drawing of figures lined up in two rows, one on a conveyor belt, with a network graph superimposed above them connecting the figures together across the rows.

Every non-major class I took was still related to math or history (my two majors) except language classes. I had almost enough credits for an art history major but triple majoring felt excessive

I was about to say a freshman seminar I took in the astronomy department but I just realized it was actually a history of science class which … was my PhD. Turns out I’ve been pretty consistent.

yes this review! books can be good and still be too Great-Man-centric

β€œwhat emerges is a sort of great man theory of history that gives Musk more credit than he deserves...the authors unintentionally buy into Musk’s own narrative that he is a once-in-a-lifetime technological and business mind.”
