Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Very cute. We got these two furballs a few weeks back. Cosmo (tuxedo) took great and disruptive interest in Everdell on Saturday

I think he sees any opposition to what he wants as fundamentally illegitimate. Any left wing thought is terrorism in his mind. He is a fanatic. The fact that he believes this, of course, makes him more, not less, reprehensible

04.10.2025 18:42 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

He’s deluded enough that he thinks they will have read his book when I bet most don’t know he wrote one

Late to comment about yesterday’s Pete Hegseth speech, but didn’t it feel like a soap opera actor who plays a doctor on TV lecturing to a bunch of seasoned actual doctors?

He’s such a whiny little child.

Hes also deeply unoriginal, this is just stolen directly from the right in the US after Charlie Kirk was shot

After all the gist of her complaint is that when she said shitty stuff and got called out for it, Emma Watson agreed that what she said was shitty.

She’s feels entitled to eternal fealty from the Potter actors just because she wrote the books. It’s pathetic

30.09.2025 14:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

To give her way more credit than she deserves, that isn’t in quotes so it is the headline writer mangling the metaphors not Jk. It captures the pity-me whining of she-who-must-play-the-victim pretty well though

I don't think we'll ever get another sentence which sums up everything the New York Times embodies quite like "Some legal experts have called it a crime to summarily kill civilians".

I suspect that’s just Mandel misremembering Gervais’ line but maybe I’m being too charitable. Even if he had said 300 years it would have still been a completely vacuous observation

29.09.2025 07:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I can’t get what deep insight was being presented in Gervais saying β€œif your racist now it’s a bad thing but owning slaving was lauded 100+ years ago”. So what? Is he saying that isn’t progress.

These guys are so whiny. Their success isn’t enough they want everyone to praise them all the time

28.09.2025 22:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Do you think he really believes they are solid gold or is just lying? And if he does believe it, is it because his staff are lying to him or is it cognitive dissonance whereby he convinces himself his lies are true?

28.09.2025 22:22 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s part of it. I also suspect there’s some projection going on here. Kruger is a fundamentalist who I am sure would like Britain run as a Christian theocracy. I don’t think he can comprehend that other religious people don’t want the same

28.09.2025 18:24 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If someone wrote a script with an evil megalomaniac saying this their editor would make them rewrite it as too on the nose.

These guys are so divorced from the real world by their wealth that they don’t give a moments thought to whether they should do things, only whether they can

It’s terrible when people try and impose a particular lifestyle on you and undermine society. But enough about Danny Kruger’s opposition to abortion, same sex marriage and human rights.

Don’t let these jokers get away with it. Swipe left for the corrected version.

27.09.2025 13:27 β€” πŸ‘ 231    πŸ” 72    πŸ’¬ 35    πŸ“Œ 8

Indeed. Kruger isn’t actually worried about Islam he just wants to use it as a bogeyman to justify his Christian fundamentalism

Ironically Danny Kruger is far more likely to require people to live by his religious laws than any British Muslim is. He’s a Christian nationalist and frankly bonkers

Dawkins enjoyed his status as an iconoclastic scientist standing up to Christians. He liked the attention and opportunities it afforded. He’s obviously culturally conservative and once he damaged his rep over trans issues he fled to the willing arms of those same Christians. Principles be damned

Was going to recommend this video as well. Excellent take down of the real motivations behind that book - to let a bunch of racists and sexual miscreants to blame the consequences of that on anti-science lefties

The problem isn’t that the public don’t get that the political/government system is broken. The problem is that they are bad at identifying the solution and that the system is set up to perpetuate itself

Also, being autistic is not being unhealthy. The vax and medical misinformation is bad but the relentless stigmatisation of autism is just as harmful

Isn’t the β€œimmigrants eating swans” story rolled out by the Sun/Mail/Express every few years. He’s not just a racist sentient toby jug, he’s a deeply unoriginal one

24.09.2025 17:03 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Don’t give him ideas. We’re in enough of a mess here without that

They never seek to make the case for progressive policies and as truly they simply reinforce the credibility of right wing policies while never being as trusted to implement those policies

They simply can’t see that many left wing positions are/would be popular if somebody advocates for them 2/2

I think the Democrats in the US and Labour here in the Uk have a similar failing. They both believe that you have to follow public opinion (or even right wing opinion) in order to get/keep power. As a result they endlessly try to take positions just to the left of the Repubs/Tories/Reform 1/2

Is it possible that Chelsea aren’t very good and that winning a fancy preseason tournament might not be the best test of how good a team is?

It's been said before but still true: The only reason Steven Miller is in politics is because he lacks the upper-body strength to strangle prostitutes.

I realise he is now effectively running the US while Trump cosplays as president but has nobody told him that he is the worst possible person to speak publicly like this. He looks like a ghoul and has an incredibly grating voice. The optics are terrible even if the message wasn’t Goebbels-esque
