We made a video about Wetherspoon and the crisis in British pubs.

And, in order to do so, went on a road trip from the UK's most-southerly spoons to its most northerly...

...only eating, drinking, and sleeping in Wetherspoon's pubs along the way.

I'm gonna be knocking around this year's Games Transformed as the "whoever else we can think to invite" category of person that @chrisbratt.bsky.social mentions here.

Maybe wearing a costume? I dunno. I kinda just say yes to stuff.

But you should come along!

Abolishing the refuse department in favour of a city-wide system of rag and bone men because it never did me any harm.

Honestly a really fantastic video essay, I highly recommend watching it.

It's making me reinterpret how I hear about Trump and how our Labour party in the UK is failing.

Reform UK councils are gonna be wild.

It’s the sort of β€œafter the revolution, who’s gonna take out the bins” but they *only* really have the power to take out (or not) the bins.

And their decisions will be entirely guided by what this week’s right-wing, AI slop memes have to say about bins.

Genuinely an amazing video that really opened my eyes to why it seems our establishments are so feckless. I'll be extremely interested to see how the new conceptualization of ideology shapes our politics in these dire times.

Ooh, I don't have one to hand. We licence our music from Epidemic Sound usually, so it will largely be from their stash of tracks!

This latest video by Tom Nicholas is amazing. In it, he perfectly captures what is so frustrating about Western centrist political leaders who completely lack any bold vision, & how in the fearful avoidance of having any ideology, right wingers with horrifying but bold visions are filling the void.

Came across this excellent example of "I know the data says one thing, but I have this single anecdote" today.

Just think of the financial damage the film Conclave has done to the explainer journalism industrial complex.

Outlets which would otherwise have made bank on "How the Next Pope Will Be Chosen, Explained" articles and videos left purposeless as readers cry "don't worry, we know".

Who Killed Postmodernism?

My latest video exploring what postmodernism was, where it went, and what might have replaced it, is available to watch on @nebula.tv now!

It's a proper old school video essay. So, if you want to party like it's 2017, pop over and check it out!

I'm running a sweepstakes on how long it takes before we discover this app inadvertently pairs students by IQ or familial wealth or head circumference or something.

In a period where people want their politicians to be human and accessible, so much of his stuff is staged, or pre-planned, or you can sense the press officer just off-screen ready to step in if a question goes off topic.

The challenge for Starmer is that people seem to struggle to care about him and his politics. Part of this is personality. But it's not helped by following a press strategy focussed exclusively on the legacy press (after we've seen that unfold catastrophically for the Harris campaign in the US).

I'm deeply sceptical as to what extent the Reform "civil war" will actually hurt them. Few outside of the hardcore support (and a bunch of Americans on Twitter) even know who Rupert Lowe is. Farage basically *is* Reform in every sense of the term. And that will probably carry them through.

Starmer's chat with TLDR felt like a step in the right direction here.

But it was very concerning that they had to explain who they are. They're one of the biggest UK news outfits in the social/new media space.

He should know who they are!

Discovery for podcasts is awful, and therefore you just don't see an episode for a podcast you're not signed up for.

Whatever its cons, YouTube will shove a bunch of stuff in people's faces if it thinks they're interested; including people who might not seek it out.
