Yes, Green Barbarians was one of the first books I found that talked about the effects of petrochemicals on endocrine health, and Garbology was a good read on the journey of waste on the planet. Totally geeky topics, but I really enjoyed both books

Medicine is fluid in this house. Had the flu in January and was given this bottle to help recover. This means "lung chi weakness"... For as long as the label stays on the bottle.

Long term food storage is a lot more than just canning. Here is a quart glass jar of dehydrated grapefruits, Persian limes, Meyer lemons, + oranges. Winter citrus fruits dehydrated for teas, baking, medicine making.

Last weekend, I harvested a few of these spineless cactus pads. They are incredible herbal first aid medicine, and I will be able to easily propagate them by just laying them in a planter pot, or putting them onto the ground.

I've been working for a little while on simplifying and organizing my important medical and outdoor gear, but still do the daily "where did I put it" walk through of my house...

Warm November afternoon, manning a booth for the local search and rescue to help raise money for the year. A wealthy Taos Eccentric pulled a hundred from a crisp roll of them to put in my donation jar and moms dug all their change out from the bottom of their purses and pockets for us...
