Even if you run something on a group only instance and have verified every user yourself, VRC's wording is very specific: instances need to be locked to those who've verified through VRC+, which has a monetary cost - unless you're a big enough event that it would cause outrage.

I have actually had a 16 year old child in my NSFW group meet once before! This was before 18+ verification existed on VRC. Since then we've run people's IDs, but the push for their own verification kinda made us look like idiots since they require the instances to be age gated anyway.

I just scrolled past two screenshots of people saying that Persona is going to collect all your data and give it to ICE or whatever. This is literally below that screenshot going around. If Persona is keeping your data, it's because Discord is telling them to.

Oh and if you're not already aware and are planning on attending Furality this year, you're going to have to be 18+ verified on VRChat to attend! Which means getting verified through Persona. Though what upsets me most is that you won't need to get VRC+ like I've had to push for my own group meets.

This isn't me saying that you shouldn't be worried about verifying or that you shouldn't be upset. I'm just angry that misinformation is being shared instead of posts that can help more people contact representatives and regulators to actually change things instead of just making them angry.

I don't want to get deep into the criticism of Persona except for one aspect I've seen this week; people saying that it's being run by Peter Thiel. From what I can see, this is just blatant misinterpretation of the fact that Persona got early funding through one of his venture capital funds.

Discord isn't the first major social platform to do this, in fact, VRChat has done the exact same thing, using the exact same 3rd party provider: Persona. Having done my own research into these kinds of verification services, Persona seems to legitimately be one of the better choices.

This whole situation should be the responsibility of the parents and you should tell your representatives such when complaining about these new bills going up for voting - but I'm getting away from my point. I've seen some blatant misinformation flying around as Discord pushes for verification.

Don't get me wrong here, all the new age verification requirements suck. I shouldn't have to verify my age on Discord because my account is 10 years old. Unless I was a genius 7 year old, there's no way I was creating an account without an adult.

A large, half melted Tegu - Cassius - pins a smaller, blue dragon to the ground, in a puddle of tegu goo, clinging to the dragons scales. The tegu fingers and tongue fill the dragons maw as his shaft is buried under the dragons tail.

A quiet walk to the beach was the best way to wind down after a long day, if only Arco had noticed Cassius stalking him along the path. It wasn't long before the hunt started, not that the startled dragon put up much of a fight.
