The American myth of the Lone Hero, a heroic figure who saves the day, as helpless townies stand by, fosters collective inertia, a belief 'we' is weak & ineffectual, but don't worry, 'he' will appear. It's a lie divorced from reality & evolution.
Without a powerful 'us', there is no 'me'.

From Stonewall to now: LGBTQ+ elders on navigating fear in dark times LGBTQ+ elders share what survival looks like under a hostile political regime and their advice to young people on taking action, even when they're afraid.

“Are things worse than they were before Stonewall? Not yet."

I spoke with LGBTQ+ elders about what survival looks like under a hostile political regime and their advice for young people right now — which is namely, act even when you're afraid.

BREAKING: Chief Judge Boasberg issues a classwide, nationwide temporary restraining order, blocking removal of any noncitizens in U.S. custody who are subject to today's AEA order for the next 14 days.

With planes leaving, he says, "I am required to act immediately."

BREAKING: Hundreds of Jews and allies have taken over Trump Tower chanting “We want justice, you say how. Bring Mahmoud home now!” and “Fight Nazis, not students.”

The civil disobedience is spawned by the ICE arrest of Palestinian student Mahmoud Khalil.

CALLS ARE WORKING - it has bought us precious time, but we NEED to keep the pressure up.

Tomorrow is the cloture vote.

KEEP CALLING: (202) 224-3121 ☎️☎️☎️

Tell your Dem Senator to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

Do NOT assume your Senator will be good on this. Trust me.

Finally read @xiranjayzhao.bsky.social's Heavenly Tyrant after my kid has been bugging me to read it for months. It's incredible. For a 10 year old to enjoy an amazing action sci fi story with a lot of political theory that he grasped as such because of the context is amazing.

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

“It’s not a badge of honor to have my creative work denigrated as obscene, especially when that work is about queer people and people of color. It’s offensive to have my work mischaracterized this way.” — Malinda Lo

Some people think getting your books banned is a badge of honor, but it’s not. As I told Ms. Mag: “It’s not a badge of honor to have my creative work denigrated as obscene, especially when that work is about queer people and people of color. It’s offensive to have my work mischaracterized this way.”

Dear cis people,

It's well past the point where this kind of thing will fix everything, but I want you to take note of how easy this is.

These little freaks are soft-handed little babies that will fold like a napkin in the rain.

Light these fools up.

THIS IS HOW YOU STAND UP:
Trump tried to fire National Labor Relations Board boardmember Gwynne Wilcox.
She sued to get her job back. And won.
Before walking back into her office today, she told her staff: "The President is not a king. That's the message that will ring loud and clear."

Do y’all actually want a shot at resisting this administration or do you just want to be right?

Because shaming those who are standing up to their Republican elected officials for not seeing the light sooner is going to make people LESS likely to speak out.

I’m sorry, but it’s true!

When I was 24-31 I dated a man who was 34-41 but acted like he was in his 70s. Now that I get to date another 40yo, wowie this person is a lot more fun than my old bf ever was

I am 34. When I was dating last year, I realized real fast I don’t think I can even date someone in their late 20s. But I kept it fairly wide: 30-45. Still went on a date with a 52yo and I felt that age gap 😅 now I’m dating a 40yo who is just perfect for where we’re both at in life!

Unwashed Furry Masses: Wanda Gág’s *Millions of Cats* (1928) The oldest American children's book still in print, Wanda Gág's classic opens onto surprisingly political themes.

What's that, you say?

A charming children's book about cats that's also an anticapitalist fable?

In the public domain???

How Federal Employees Are Fighting Back Against Elon Musk Some civil servants are using whatever levers they have to resist the orders of the world’s richest man, both in public and behind closed doors.

THIS IS HOW YOU STAND UP: EEOC admin judge Karen Ortiz resisted an order to hand over all LGBT cases for “review” and told colleagues to resist too. She knows she’ll likely to be fired.
