...and that really confirms all my suspicions about what my parents think about my personal pastime. I have a brother who does TKD and tricking, one who's a speed cuber, and my sister plays collegiate rugby. Sure, fursuit dance is out of the box, but I feel like she's not giving it the same respect.

...but any reference I make to Mel, Reven, or just being a part of the fandom got dismissed like she's not even trying to meet me halfway on what I'm doing with my time outside of this immediate project. She never used either character's name, just "the blue one" or "the dinosaur"...

Picking out fabrics for my head bag with Mom went mostly really well, surprisingly?? She's been super helpful and invested with getting some styles and patterns to use, and I know she's excited to teach me how to sew it up...

I will be doing three things on Friday evening. One, picking out materials with Mom to make a head bag for Mel. Two, opening the floor for any questions she has about me being a furry. Three, dropping everything at 6:55 because I need a room in main for ANE and I will absolutely fight people for it!

Had someone at work today ask me if I was team Nicki or team Cardi. All I could tell them was that I was too busy listening to Hozier to pick a side. The part I didn't tell him was that it's because I'm a queer white person who deals with existential crises like it's just another Tuesday afternoon.

Pondering asking my mom (who has been notably avoidant about discussing furry with me since I first showed her what exactly it is I do at these cons) to make fursuit head bags for Mel and Reven for Christmas. I'm flying Mel out to Boston again soon, after all. What could possibly go wrong?

How do I cut 8 seconds from a song that's alllllmost short enough for a dance comp but also just long enough that I can't leave it and just cheat the extra time in there?

After 43 hours, my birthday weekend adventure comes to a close. A new suit, a new con, an out of fandom dance event, some old friends, and the chance to level up my heels game, all wrapped up into one trip. It may not have always been the smoothest, but I had so much fun the whole way through!

I certainly wasn't *planning* on staying out so late that it became early, but here we are. Bedtime now :)

It all worked out in the end :) Google really tried playing games but I still ended up with a badge, a new fursuit, and some opportunities still ahead of me to make this weekend and epic one!

Looks like I just missed the cutoff for FurrestCity reg. Got stuck walking for too long and couldn't find the place from the garage while Google had me turned around. Definitely disappointed to have driven all the way out just to not see the con, but at least I have other things to look forward to.

Just clocked out, about to drive home... And I'm free for the birthday weekend. This is gonna be a crazy one!

About to spend my birthday weekend mostly in Ohio. Plan is to pick up a fursuit, spend the afternoon at a mini-con, and visit some other dancer friends on Sunday to get some help working the floor in heels (and maybe hooves?)

I can't help but feel like I'm gonna have to have that talk this weekend.

Spent July 4th weekend at a furcon, too. I sold a fursuit while working at a friend's booth, teamed up to dance as part of a crew for the first time, and ate pizza out of a dog bowl in an actual restaurant.

Have yet to talk with parents about it because I know it won't go over much better than AO.

Spent Easter weekend at a furry convention. Sent a link to my family and my parents finally learned what I'm doing at all these cons.

The only thing my parents would tell me was that they saw I was having fun and that the costume was "interesting", and couldn't add much else detail. Hm.
