It's not just about the stunning mountain vistas, I do like stones in weird places too. Like this row of chambered tombs (Garn Wen) tucked behind a Goodwick housing estate! #TombTuesday

A large outlying stone sits in the centre of the picture with three others in the background. The remains of the circle cairn can just be seen in the grassland.

Lagmore West, the remains of a #ClavaCairn near the confluence of the rivers Avon & Spey. Two other #ClavaCairns lie close by .. #TombTuesday

Absolutely wonderful talk on Friday in Bridport from @stonelands.bsky.social and @anjanakhatwa.bsky.social highlighting (and rethinking) the human connection to our ancient landscape. Two really inspirational ladies.

As it's St David's Day, here are some Welsh stones โ€“ near St David's Head in Pembrokeshire. They're named after King Arthur though: Coetan Arthur, or Arthur's Quoit. #StandingStoneSunday

An immense, steel toe capped menhir presides over a row of gravestones. Its pitted surface looks like pumice, holes and crevices being picked out by the late winter sunlight. The sky is cloudless blue fading into a pale pinkish grey on the horizon

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, โ€œIโ€™m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.โ€

There's something about encountering standing stones in a wood, watching and waiting among the trees ... This is the Hoar Stone at Enstone, also known as the Old Soldier, who on Midsummer's Eve will emerge from the wood to go (some say) to the pub. #StandingStoneSunday
