Incredible ice loss measured again at #Konkordiaplatz on the #Aletsch #Glacier, home to the thickest ice in the #Alps (still about 800 m!). Yesterdayβs survey revealed another β4.6 m of ice gone in just one year. :(

5. A big part of the problem, ironically, is that natural regen is much cheaper/free, so there's less money to be made from it. There's an industrial lobby which profits from planting grim rows of trees in plastic tubes. There is no industrial lobby profiting from letting nature do its thing.
