Here is a small update on Maya. I got to see her late last night after all of her tests... she's still in the ER and today they are testing her platelet lvls. But she has officially broken her fever!

At the ER I was quoted 3k for the "high" range... And there you have to pay half up front. Well... my account hit zero. 0.00. I was so afraid they would send me away. But they allowed me to put $100 down for now. It was all I had on a giftcard I had received for christmas... And need to pay the rest

After staying at her vet in intensive critical care from 10am all the way to 6pm on fluids, ice, and everything. They managed to get her fever down just enough for me to rush to the ER vet an hour away. I didn't have enough to cover the full amount...not even half but I have to pay the rest today

She was diagnosed with "fever with unknown origin." Thankfully the tests for heartworm, FIV, and leukemia all came back negative! They suspect possible bloodborn parasite (hemobartonella) and some other possibilities. No fluid in her lungs, xrays looked good...
