I have no idea what percentage of the US population thinks that "leftist" "liberal" and "democrat" are all synonyms. I think the number is still pretty high. Does anyone have any resources on this?
I keep seeing discourse about writing outside of your own lived experiences.
& here's my take on it.
Didn't say 'only'. (This is why talking about anything complex on micro-post sites like this sucks.) The point is that you can have the best, most equitable/fair/free economic/political system ever, but if the mechanisms that make it that way ALSO make oligarch capture quick-n-easy, it's not good.
My contentions are:
1. economics and politics are inextricably entertwined. I think it's not valid to say a problem is strictly in one of those domains and not the other.
2. The sustainability of an economic/political system can be measured by how effectively it resists oligarch capture.
anything else would require work.

Yes. And what happens when the economic system produces people with wealth that allows them to capture the political system?
If your system relies on incorruptible people I'm not sure that it's sustainable.
The theory is that capitalism is the best engine of innovation and change. It turns out that it's so brittle that it's going to shatter. What comes after is anyone's guess, but I don't think it's going to be pretty.

Incredible the kind of friction a company can create when it insists on even a modicum of an ethical posture. And listen. I do not trust ANY of these companies as far as I can throw them. But I'm fascinated by observing cause and effect in dynamic systems.
