I follow the NHL, NFL, CFL, MLB, and EPL pretty closely. That the NHL is the only one of those that I struggle to get breaking news from since leaving Twitter speaks volumes about the target/primary market for the league IMO.

People also seem to be missing that Xbox going more and more towards PC (with things like branding the ROG Xbox Ally and rumours of Steam being available on the next console) would mean PlayStation games could then appear on “Xbox” hardware. Something they likely want to avoid.

if the media had any integrity — and it doesn’t anymore — they’d be pointing out on a loop that Obama made a deal with Iran, Trump cancelled it because Obama is Black, and then Trump started a war on the pretense there is no deal

Janice Lukes 2026: we shouldn’t do temporary measures, poly posts are a joke, can’t believe the public service would suggest it.

Janice Lukes 2024: what about poly posts as a temporary measure? We will ask the public service later to explore that.

But also, just because there IS conversation going on doesn’t mean the people discussing the topic are worth listening to?

How many knowledgeable people are actually discussing national security in a worthwhile way on X?

Nobody is allowed to complain about IIHF officials ever again. They at least try to call the rulebook.

It’s pretty unfortunate how badly it was buried by the tidal wave of bad news this week.

You two should absolutely come to Winnipeg and give curling a try. It’s a major sport in Manitoba and there are plenty of pretty historic rinks to choose from.

It is insane to me that modern conservatism has gone SO far to the right that Jason Kennedy is regularly sounding so… normal?

EB Games/Game Stop didn’t start loading their shelves with Funko Pops because they wanted to lol.

But hey, they took a lead at the start of the second period and tried to hold on, sit back for 40 minutes, and win 1-0 rather than play their game.

It’s hockey the Canadian way.

The Canadian D handled the puck like a hand grenade and took poor angles all game. A rough, but rather fitting ending.

Scientists no Longer Find Twitter Professionally Useful, and have Switched to Bluesky Synopsis. Social media has become widely used by the scientific community for a variety of professional uses, including networking and public outreach. For

Bluesky is the new science Twitter, new study by @whysharksmatter.bsky.social and Julia Wester concludes!

"Results show that for every reported professional benefit that scientists once gained from Twitter, scientists can now gain that benefit more effectively on Bluesky than on Twitter."

If you get a chance to watch the last rivalry series (November/December) I’d recommend it. The Americans absolutely obliterated Canada across all four games.

Don’t forget, the wealthy family that owns the existing bridge (whose wealth comes straight from the tolls they charged) cozied up to Trump ages ago to try to stop this one from being built.

Good chance that’s what this is all about.

As a reminder, the existing bridge is privately owned by a family that spent decades deceiving and destroying the surrounding communities to ensure it was the only option, getting extremely wealthy off of the tolls they charged, then cozied up to Trump to try to prevent this one from happening.

It’s a fun reminder that privatization doesn’t make things better.

Councillor Lukes presides over one of the most disrespectful public bodies I’ve ever had the misfortune of interacting with. Just dripping with disdain for the public who come to voice our concerns about our families’ safety, and no attention to process or rules. A thug.

I haven’t posted in ages, but I just want to pop in to say Morgan Rielly continues to be the biggest problem on a very poor Leaf team.

Am I the only one who gets a real kick out of citation chains? Reading people's writing and footnotes, and making assessments and notes, finding the sources in the footnotes and reading them yourself, and making more notes?
I...love it?

He ran a radio ad in Winnipeg saying he was going to “hear from and visit a country dragged into a war they wanted nothing to do with” (or something along those lines).

There is maybe one player/coach on the Bombers offence that should still be here next year. Everyone else needs to go.

As a Padres fan, this is the duality of Snell.

He can be lights out. He can also be had. If you keep getting contact he can steady to really struggle with control, and things can get out of hand quick.

Let that hopefully be a lesson as to why you don’t neuter your lineup for pinch runners.

The Jays had tons of chances to end it and just couldn’t get a couple reliable hitters up in a row.
