The Writing Framework has just been published, and I'm very pleased to have been part of the sector panel which helped produce this important document.

I'm optimistic that the framework will help leaders to further develop the teaching of writing in their schools.

Interesting article. Lots of focus on evidence in education until the evidence doesn't actually show what you want it to show. For the additional funding you'd want to see clear evidence but it all seems rather fudged when it comes to MATs.

After SATs: Why I Won’t Be Going Off Timetable There’s often a familiar pattern that emerges in many primary schools the moment Year 6 SATs are over. Often, in some schools the core curriculum gets packed away, and out come the cross-topic themes, five pound challenges, and sprawling projects that blur every subject into one. I’ve heard it called a “creative release”, “enrichment time”, and even “SATs detox”. But for me, I’ve never enjoyed them or quite seen the logic in pressing pause on structured learning at the exact moment children need it most.

I completely agree! I accidentally have salad growing in the cracks of my concrete due to a few seeds going awry. It's very East London; I am thinking of starting a company, Concrete Salad or anyone?
