review text: And last, but definitely not least, the stupid romance here was so unrealistic and forced that it's embarrassing. If the author didn't tell us these two were in love, we'd never know they were from how they act. It's an abusive and manipulative relationship, in which one is using the other (who isn't blameless either), not a love story. I wouldn't have had a problem with it being an abusive relationship, given how Coriolanus is, as it would've made sense as such. But what bothered me is that we're sold this abusive relationship as "love".

so what you're saying is this guy who has not been a reliable narrator ONCE said "im in love with her" and you said "oh that must be true. i can't believe the actions of the characters lead me to believe otherwise. the actions must be wrong"

review text: This book started off pretty slow but picked up a lot towards the end. It gave a lot of insight on how the Hunger Games came to be. Coriolanus did kind of become insufferable out of nowhere. His character development could have been a more gradual process.

We spend all of our time learning why Snow hates a specific song that 50 years in the future completely coincidentally becomes a symbol of the resistance that overthrows him. Why is he evil? How does he come into power? What are his motivations? We have no idea, but don’t worry, we’re given backstory about why he hates a species of birds! Boring, meandering, and generally pointless. If you like reading several pages of song lyrics, this is the book for you

I need to stop hurting myself reading reviews of books that have ANY kind of complexity cause why is media literacy so bad out here (reviews of a ballad of songbirds and snakes)
